You're a hypocrite-- admit it!

As a mom, Ive realized, we're all hypocrites. Yes, life in general is full of hypocrisy....we all think we're better than another, and parenthood seems to spur this into full speed.

For example, we don't really allow Paige to watch Nick Jr. It negatively effects her behavior, we don't care for the shows, nor the commercials (yes, she can watch it on occasion...but really, it happens like once a month or every other month!) We are a PBS family-- we feel those are better rounded television shows, and we don't have to worry about ads being played between shows. But here comes the twist--- we dont mind her watching The Simpsons or Family Guy with us. LOL! TOTALLY inappropriate for a 3 year old....or any aged child of that age! Hah! Heck, when the Simpsons first aired, my parents would NOT let me watch it. I was 8, and pissed off...cause....wtf, mom...it's a CARTOON?! Anyhow.... total hypocrites. She watches Seventh Heaven, 2 and a Half Men, and King of Queens as well with us. It well rounds her... add in her obsession with Country Music videos on GAC...and you got a well rounded kid. ;-)

Anyhow.... im constantly giving a chuckle to my fellow mommy friends and their "i will NEVER!"'s turning into common day occurrences, or hindering what should have been resolved by now (remember, stubbornness breeds stubbornness!)......and even better is when they deny ever thinking the opposite..... Bleh....just admit it and move on....I will!

This weekend we were hit with summer! 80s and HUMID! Wowie. Gonna take a few days to get used to this....we were all actually HOT......coming from steady 50's & 60s....and before that it was like 30 degrees out for 4 months.....so you see where I'm coming from.

I spent a good portion of yesterday cleaning mold from my home. Yes, gross black mold...and fuzzy counterparts. What the?! We're not dirty people, so this boggles me. Anyhow, we *think* it came from the humidifier we had running through the winter in the house-- combined with all the long hot showers. Too much moisture & dark places=mold country! I stumbled on the mold farm behind my dresser Friday morning when looking for my missing eyeliner pencil (which I did find today under the COUCH in the living room....fuckin' cats! LOL!). It was all over the baseboard and creeping up the wall behind my dresser. Ew!

Saturday I went in there, moved the dresser away, armed with a diluted bottle of bleach, several rags, a bucket of water and a brush and cleaned it all up. As Im vacuuming the rest of the room-- i discover it behind my nightstand too! UGH!!!!! I bring Mike in so we can move our bed...and luckily it was NOT behind there. I checked every other crevice in the room and found no more. Phew.

Wiped the sills in the bathroom--more mold. Paige's bedroom windows-- more mold. As I am wiping her window, I glance down behind her bed. Oh my friggin god I almost cried. Yes, more mold. Mike pulls it away from the wall and it was all over the baseboard & walls in there, just like in my room. Poor kid!!!! Yuck yuck yuck. I HATE YOU, MOLD!

Had we some extra money, this weekend would have been the perfect time to rent a hotel room and let the house air-out, but that wasnt an option. We've had the windows open all weekend, and the furniture is still away from the walls until I am 100% sure it is 100% dry back there. I hope this was just a one time incident, and am thankful we didnt get sick from it!!

Anyhow-- P and I planted the flower seeds she got from the Easter Bunny....then I raked out her play area out back. The sun was too hot for her-- even with sunscreen on, she was sweating and beet red really quick--while I was raking, she wandered into the basement where it was nice & cool and I found her in there playing with the box of Mike's old Matchbox cars.

They predicted Thunderstorms tonight....woohoo! This is my favorite time of the year-- though I prefer them in the evening -- just in time to cool the house off around dinner time.

Not sure what we're doing tonight....P is in bed, Mike is behind me on his computer. We have a ton of Tv show's DVR'd that we need to catch-up on--- so maybe we'll do that--- but a part of me wants to go out back and fire-up the fire pit. Hmmmmm.

Hope everyone had a fun productive weekend! Back to the grind we go tomorrow....
