Howdy again. Wow 3x in one week. Im trying to be more diligent about blogging.... as it's sort of therapeutic to get my thoughts all out.....my sister has been calling me once a week for a good long hour chit chat, which has been nice too.... she's got a lot of advice which I hope will help us in the long run....
Our porch leak has slowed down, thankfully. Still damp out there, but no more waterfall. Tho now i got a ton of towels to launder....
At playgroup last night, the kids decorated sugar cookies with valentine's colored icing & sprinkles....what a mess, but a tasty one to that! Paige woke with a cough Thursday morning, out of the blue (having been 100% good to go all week!)....and a low grade fever. But she was functional all day...so we figured perhaps cold #3 was slowly creeping in.
She went to bed fine....i even set up the humidifier in her room to help with the slight congestion. I had a pounding headache all day yesterday...so took some Advil and was crashed out within like 2 minutes of hitting my pillow around 10:30 last night!
I woke at 12:30am to a barking seal over the monitor.
Yes, croup! Ugh!
She was also soaked...had wet the bed...and was coughing that hard nasty dry croup cough. I went to change her into dry PJ pants, and she got super upset & started crying...which made the cough worse...and then she ended up hyperventilating and started gagging! I heard that vomit approaching sound and quickly threw open her bedroom door and started hauling ass into the bathroom....LOL (last thing we need is puke on her bedroom carpet!). What a lil trooper she was tho! She aptly covered her mouth with both her hands, and ran into the bathroom all by herself and did her thing in the toliet. Go Paige, Go! Poor kid. I was trying to keep calm and settle her...but being all alone and still half asleep.....my coolness turned into panic quick. I did think quick when we were in the bathroom....and shut the door and turned the hot shower on. She got scared, thinking i was gonna put her in the shower...and was in a dazed coughing mess....i couldnt get her to settle down..so finally, i sat on the bathroom floor and put her in a bear hug til she calmed.....and let the bathroom steam up....i held her until i heard her breathing calm down and clear up as she took in all the steamy air. Phew. A croup attack can be pretty similar to an asthma attack if one's expierenced it before....just much easier to gain control of.
Needless to say, I spent the night in her bed with her. I moved the humidier to the bedside and kept her elevated on her pillow when she'd slide off. It was a long night, but she is doing OK this morning. Still has that nasty cough...but is in better spirits. When I left for work this morning, her and Mike were planning to lay on the couch together and watch the Aristocats.
I need to get some more sheets for Paige's bed today. Stupidly, we have ONE set. I had planned to get 2 when we originally got her the bed set...but damn, sheet are pricey! Well, after last night's middle of the night accident, i was like... WTF now? No way could i launder sheets and wait while she was needing me. So....i ended up laying a clean towel over the spot so she could get back to sleep. :-P Ew. Today I plan to grab another set or 2 if i can find a decent deal somewhere....
Got an iced mocha on my way in today. Pure sugary caffeine for breakfast for me today!

Poor Paige - that's horrible! I hope you both sleep better tonight, and she gets over this quickly! :( Sounds like you're in good spirits, despite such a rough night!
I hope P starts feeling better fast!
