Electrafying Night!

Yet another crazy night in our house! Last night was rainy & cold out and kinda windy. Power SURGED off around 2:30am as Mike was getting ready for bed....it started dimming here and there for a few minutes.... I shot out of bed when it zapped out cause it made the baby monitor "pop" when it finally went out

Then the power kept surging on for like 5 seconds every 15-20 minutes...making this awful "WOOOOOOOOM" noise each time that basically would shake the house. Of course it timed out perfectly that the surges would occur just as we were drifting off to sleep.... so we kept getting jerked back awake.

We called the power company-- they were aware and were sending a truck cause the entire street was out. After the 3rd or 4th surge .......we started unplugging everything in the house. Around 5am a truck was working on the pole before our house...and suddenly the power came back on for about a minute or two. But it wasn't right.....There was this awful pulsating hum to it....and suddenly all the street lights on our street got so bright, they were a blinding white color! We heard a huge *BOOM!* and Mike said he saw a fireball shoot from the telephone pole into the sky! Geez! Luckily the worker was OK-- they do wear so much protective clothing, thank goodness. Turns out, the transformer on the pole EXPLODED. At that point, we decided to cut the main breaker to our house so we could get some f'in sleep!

I heard the power truck leaving around 6:15am and saw the street light was back on....at it's regular color & brightness. We turned the power back on for the house and finally went to sleep.
