Itchy Tuesday....

Ugh, it's one of those "blah" weeks so far. The weather has been too crappy out to do anything outdoors (as it was all last week too--i think we're getting antsy here!).

Top it off-- the cats suddenly have FLEAS! Blech. I was naive and didnt treat them....figured they are strictly indoors, and we are relatively clean people. Jazzy went her first 5 years without a single flea! But, last summer she got them for the first time--- and I think we missed something or they are hiding out somewhere in the house-- cause without warning...they became infested this weekend. Well, Frontline'd them both-- and slowly doing the flea powder in the rooms/washing all bedding & curtains, etc. What a pain! Fortunatley we seem to have it somewhat under control now....Im just tired of laundy & cleaning....it seems like all I ever do around here.

We had to invest in & install a refridgerator lock. Yes, at almost 4 years old...i thought this was something we'd have an issue with at 2....but no...P's curiosity & freshness streak was a bit delayed. :-P .... Over the past few months she has been caught...and not caught (me noticing items bitten into or missing later in the day)....sneaking food from the fridge. You'd think we don't feed her! She eats just fine...and generally gets something when she says she is hungry. But...mix Mike not watching her with a sneaky girl...and she's snuck cookie dough (which I learned when there was 1 tiny crumble left in the tub!).....tried to feed the cats butter.... taken bites of sweets in the fridge.... helped herself to yogurt....while leaving it uncovered and trying to "hide" the spoon she used by sticking it back in the drawer with the rest of the clean ones (not the smartest of moves!)..we've taken things away.....no treats/no snacks, etc... ....and today was the final straw. This morning she asked me for a donut for breakfast (we have half a box in the fridge). I said no...she's had enough junk lately...not today. I made her breakfast with fruit and a cup of milk. She was eating that when I left for work.

Mike calls me around 1pm to let me know he caught her. Not red-handed...but more....powder faced. When asked...she denied it fully. He checked the fridge, and lo-and-behold...there was 1/4 of a donut left in the box. She somehow, sometime, got in there, and basically scarfed a whole powdered donut down and then bolted. She has no remorse...and thinks it's funny. So.....lock on fridge. No more access at all. :-P

In other news.... Mike got word today that his long-lost uncle/godfather.... has been living for the past 30 years! Basically...the short story--- Full-Blooded Irish family living in South Boston back in the 60's & 70s. Some not so good ties to not-so-good men. Mike's uncle (his Dad's brother) suddenly goes missing in the early '80s. His car is found on the side of the highway....no sign of him....ever again. A short investigation uncovers nothing. The family chalks it up to "maybe they are better off not knowing" sort of deal....

Just caught word that a man, matching his dental records....just passed away in a San Diego Hospital. WTF? We're all confused....joyed that the mob maybe didnt hack him off afterall....but confused. His children say "sources" say he had amnesia... went by a different name.... etc. We wonder if that's legit...if he lost his memory....how? .....or did he run away to "hide" .....

Anyhow....no one knows for sure...and not sure if we ever will now that he's REALLY gone. Interesting to think that all these years they assumed he was gone...and he wasnt..... he was just on the other side of the country. Anyhow...they are arranging to bring his body "home"...and will have a proper burial I guess. Wierd stuff!

I just caught P jumping on her bed instead of going to bed. Bumhead. She's in there crying cause I shut her bedroom door. *sigh*...ok...back...had to tuck her in again.

In other news...My baby girl is growing up so much (like you didnt know that....).......we started putting together a "wishlist" for her birthday...... she wants Barbies, Barbies and more Barbies....Littlest Pet Shop stuff too. That's "big" girl toys! As I was tucking her in...she was trying to figure out where she would put all her new Barbie stuff....and was saying maybe she's done with her Little Peoples stuff....and Barbie stuff can go into those bins instead. Sniff, Sniff! ... on an odd side-note...she also wants a train set. Where that fits in, I dont know...but she has been attracted to train sets for awhile now......
