3 weeks in!

Dylan's snoozing in his swing...and I just put Paige to bed....lets see how long I got to type!

Ive been mainly keeping contact with people via my iPod.... Its small, and totable all around the house, and I can even cruise Facebook and the web with it in one hand while feeding D with the other...LOL. However, the screen is TINY...so its a pain to really type much on it.... Maybe once or twice a week I get a spare moment and the momentum to jump on the regular computer.....

Dylan turned 3 weeks old on Saturday! Hard to believe its been 3 weeks already. Im feeling good, healing great.... really no pain what so ever....just some tenderness at the incision site here and there, especially if my pants rub on it... but in general, no complaints. I do miss a few components of my pregnancy...like the flawless skin I had! Its so weird, when preggo with Paige, I was a pimply acne mess.....and 100x worse postpartum. The moment I got pregnant with Dylan....my skin cleared up and I had the most amazing complexion my entire pregnancy...not a single pimple, and even the skin on my arms cleared up. Was rocking. Within a week after giving birth to him.....my skin flaws are back. Bummer! LOL.

My current challenge as a new mom to 2 is the morning routine. Paige and I had one down....tho its been tossed out the window with a newborn in the house. I'm sure once HE gets more routine, we'll be able to work something out...but until then....its so chaotic..... balancing feeding him, keeping him entertained and happy along with getting her up, ensuring she gets dressed and makes her bed.....all while I need to make her breakfast, get her lunch into her bag, and get some clothes on myself so I can take her to school. Anyhow..we've had maybe 2 "smooth" mornings so far...but not consistent. It all runs around the baby, of course. Thank goodness Paige is soooo patient...most of the time. Hopefully mornings smooth out more before I have to go back to work......

Anyhow....I haven't been able to pinpoint whats gender different about my kids yet. Well, obviously the diaper changes are different... ;-) ...but I mean raising one gender versus the other hasn't been anything hugely different ....YET. The newborn phase seems pretty stock and standard. Sleep, Cry, Change, Feed, Burp, Cuddle, Repeat.

Dylan IS much different than his sister was as a baby...at least personality wise....I think. LOL. It seems like forever ago, honestly. He is pretty laid back...BUT, has quite a temper and NO patience (tho I don't think ANY baby does!) He goes from happy to screaming psycho baby in 2 seconds. If you take too long getting to feed him.....its the end of the world....complete with his head thrown back as he wails this baby dinosaur like pathetic cry. LOL. Yup, got myself another overly dramatic child. LOL.

But at the same time...he's laid back. Not a single needle bothered him at the hospital (and the poor boy had to be pricked in the heel every 3 hours for his first 24 hours!....yet it bothered ME more than HIM.). He LOVES LOVES LOVES bath time.... if he's sleepy enough..you can lay him in his crib and he'll go to sleep on his own. And yes, did I mention...he LOVES his crib, too!

He is much more snuggly then I remember Paige being, which I totally dig. I love my lil snuggle bug...and rubbing my cheeks on his silky soft hair!

Paige has been doing amazing. She really is a great big sister and is willing to help wherever she can, and they totally ADORE each other. That totally makes it all worth while to me. She's been doing well in general....we're still struggling with her slacking at school. She constantly rushes through her work to get to the next "thing"...and does such a piss-poor job with her coloring, writing, drawing, projects, etc. Of course, her teacher says she is doing fine...but to her, that is Paige's potential, cause she is consistent at school with just that sort of work. However, to us, we KNOW she can do MUCH better. We have proof at home and have seen it first hand. I have notebooks of her little stories and pages and pages of great drawings. I wish she would focus better and slow down at school and show the rest of the world how smart she really is.... :-/ .... *Sigh*. To come, to come! Anyhow....at home, her only big issue is lack of listening.....tho I think thats a standard 5 year old thing..... fun, fun! ;-)

Alright. Was super woman today. Woke at 6am with D.... P woke at 7am...we all snuggled on the couch til 7:30 watching tv...then off we went....took her to school.... came home briefly, then went Grocery Shopping. As I was out driving, I realized this was my first REAL trip out and about completely and utterly alone in a loooooong time. Kinda cool and bittersweet. I did enjoy my mental break in the store and spent an hour shopping......theres something cool about shopping at 9am on a Tuesday....LOL.... grabbed coffees & breakfast sandwiches on my way home for Mike and I....he unloaded the car, and I put EVERYTHING away. Dylan was a fuss-bug today...so we took turns attempting to get him to nap longer than 15-20 minutes (not successfully). Showered, at lunch, cleaned, took D out in the stroller to pick up Paige from school....let her play on the playground for an hour...came home... folded laundry, made dinner....hung out with both kids for a bit....got her showered and into bed.. and I just made her lunch for tomorrow.... Did I mention Ive got a NASTY cold? Blech. We're all fighting it. I have this constant green-sludge in my throat & nose....and now my voice is all raspy and my throat dry...with a dry cough. Fun! ;-)

Alrighty then....I just realized Ive been rambling for 25 minutes now. Sorry folks.........Hah!

It sounds like you're doing fantastic with the 2 of them! I'm so glad Paige has come around and is now so sweet with her brother - I thought she would after the first little while. It's going to get so fun as he gets bigger and able to smile and laugh at her - she will be his idol! It's so fun to watch!
Sorry you guys are sick! :( That's no fun. Hope it clears up soon!
