Mental Ramblings...

• It concerns me sometimes that my 5 year old daughter considers what is traditionally trashy and ....ahem.... slut-ish.....as "pretty". She likes to wear high heels and tramp around the house in pretty much nothing else. When shoe shopping, she has often brought me hot pink stiletto heels announcing "Mommy, aren't these shoes sooooo pretty?" .... and her Barbies are often dressed in bikini tops, short skirts and knee highs..... :-P Oi. I am not prepared for this, and Mike and I are pretty appalled and scared at times. I was never a "girly girl" as a kid (I was a tom boy)....so I feel ill prepared for all of this. Where did she pick this up, and how do we steer her into more appropriate fashions and likes?
  
  
• Baby boy is doing well...and will 8 weeks old this Saturday! Time is flying!!! He has his 2 month appointment next week and will get his first round of shots, which makes me sad....tho I know they are important.
  
  
• This is my last week of maternity leave. That makes me sad, yet eager at the same time. While I don't totally enjoy my job....I am sort of looking forward to the adult interactions, and being able to utilize my brain again. I feel like my head has become mush over the past 2 months....lol...... However, I will dearly miss my one-on-one time with my snuggly boy!!! Now he gets to enjoy Daddy time each day though...which will be just as good.
  
  
• Mike is really taking to having a son. Its too awesome and such a different bond already then he was like with Paige as a baby. They are already "buddies".... it is hard to describe!
  
  
• We've all been fighting colds, yet again! 2nd one this season....even the baby has it this time...poor lil guy!
  
  
• Paige is doing very well at school. She's been recommended to be moved up to a 1st grade reading group. She will join the 1st graders during reading class after the holidays! She scored 91st percentile amongst the US Kindergärtners in Reading skills and 73nd percentile amongst other US Kindergärtners in Math skills. Impressive, especially for a freshly turned 5 year old. (Proud Mama bragging rights here!). I still cant believe they do National Standardized testing on Kindergarten kids, though.
  
  
• Knocked out a bunch of Christmas shopping this afternoon. Santa is bringing some Zhu Zhu Pets stuff. Still have a bunch more stuff to get.
  
  
• I am going to attempt to make P a tutu. I am the least crafty person known. My hands & brain don't cooperate together. Wish me luck. ;-)
  
  
• Dylan is beginning to have a few predictable patterns and we are finally beginning to read each other more at times....and figure out his cries/wants. He eats about every 2-3 hours during the day....taking in anywhere from 4-6 oz at a time (tho has been only drinking 3-4 oz since he got this cold). He consistently takes a morning nap in his swing around 9am.... and a early evening nap as well. Each is about an hour long. Otherwise, he just cat-naps during the day. He goes to "bed" around 9:30pm...sleeps til anywhere from 2a-4a....eats, clean diaper, and is back out til about 7am. All doable. Good boy. ;-)

OK....girl just finished her dinner, and is getting her chocolate from her Advent Calendar...... and boy is waking from his nap. Im out. Hope everyone out there is well!
