Well, another Christmas come and gone! This year, I was pumped and ready right after Thanksgiving--- had my major shopping knocked out early, cards went out the 1st week in December....halls were decked....la de dah......then somewhere mid-December my cheer fizzled a bit. Christmas overload too quick? I was able to regain the spirit the week before...and we did have a great holiday!
Mike had 2 of his wisdom teeth taken out last week, along with the 2 molars in front of them-- which were all impacted together and had caused an infection last month. Poor guy is on round #2 of antibiotics-- this time as a precautionary. In the 11 years together, this was the first time I witnessed him in a debilitated state...i mean, totally and completely out of it. When I picked him up after the surgery...he was like a zombified chipmunk. They left the poor guy sitting out in the waiting room all alone, with a handful of papers, instructions and prescriptions. He couldnt talk....just grunted and shrugged and tried not to fall back asleep or drool. I took the papers and flagged down a hygenist-- who filled me in on everything- cleaning, what the meds were for, what to expect, etc. Then home we went. I dropped him off at home-- put him on the couch-- and me and Paige headed out to get him stocked up on mushy foods and get his meds filled.
What a crappy patient! LOL! Mommy instinct naturally kicks in whenever someone is ill or hurt...i coddle.... i will snuggle.....i empathize. But when said patient is PISSED OFF and refuses help....I dont know what to do! He was in pain...but REFUSED to take anything for it. Yet, complained about it. Well, buddy-- i gave you your options. But one of them wasn't to sit in pain and whine about it. Do something! No need to play big-man here.... take some meds, and rest.
Thankfully, he did finally agree to take at least some Advils....and then life was MUCH easier. Poor guy then came down with a cold the very next night. He had a rough week-- and headed back to work today....still feeling kinda blech. Hopefully he is 100% soon.

Oh, poor Mike! Hope he feels better soon! I still have my wisdom teeth.... not looking forward to getting them pulled out. Yeah for nurse Vicki!
Our Christmas was nice as well, although toned down from years past. I just wasn't in the mood to go all out with the decorations. But nobody seemed to notice and we all had a good time, so I guess it'll be the same next year.
