April....already?

Really? April, already? We were not just celebrating Christmas? Wait...wasnt it just Halloween? Oh my...

I have a 6 1/2 year old lil brainiac. School is ....as she puts it "easy peasy". Shes excelling in everything, and I could not be prouder! I got her and I involved in creating a first every Newspaper at her school. Somehow, i opened my mouth about what I do for work....and became the Editor. Ah! ;-)

My boy is 18 months old. Thats one and a half years. 6 months from 2 years old. He is....as ive always put it....amazing. Simply amazing. He has his whiney bouts here and there, and screams like a girl when he doesnt get his way....but otherwise, he remains an amazing little man!

His 18 mo appt is coming up, and for records sake, I made a list of his progress, for when his doctor asks. Thought i'd share it below:
-----------------------

18 months has been dubbed the parrot stage in our house! Language really started to take off at 17 months...but this month he will repeat anything you say....to the best of his ability, of course. Many letter sounds are still missing.....but he's clear enough to get his point across!

Below is what I can think of, off the top of my head...that he says on his own, in proper context (not just parroting us)

In the ( ) next to the word is how he pronounces it.

When asked what a _____ says:
Duck says "duck duck duck duck!"
Cow says "moo"
Sheep says "bah"
Kitty says "kitty!"
Dog say "bar bar bar!"

If you say "one" he says "two!"
If you say/spell "d y l a n!" He says "Dee-an!"

When asking body parts, can appropriately point out on himself:
Cheek
Ear
Eye
Nose
Teeth
Hair
Head
Arm
Hand
Bum
Leg
Foot
Toes
Belly
Belly button
Boy/wee wee
Tongue

Says "hot" when pointing to a picture of fire, fire, or the stove. Says "hot" when he sees food steaming and will blow on it.

If you give him a tissue, he will blow his nose. Or if you hold a tissue to his nose and say "blow"- he will actually blow boogies out!

Eats ok using a fork or spoon.
Enjoys coloring for a brief moment.
When pushing a toy car across the floor, makes a "vrmmmm" sound.
Pretends to pour water into cup when at the play kitchen-- then serves us the empty cups of pretend juice or water.
Can put basic shapes in shape sorter with ease....but only when in the right mood!
Gets VERY excited when he hears the train go by a few times a day. Will stop and yell "a choo choo!"

I think he's doing well... eh?
